PTH
(Parathyroid hormone: involves
in adjusting the calcium metabolism),
a remedy for the osteoporosis,
is the most emphasizing new
medicine project in Green Cross.
Green Cross has already used
the gene recombination technique
to secure the technology to
economically produce PTH in
batch. Phase 2 clinical trial
for the patients was completed successfully in Germany.
Unlike the existing preventive
cure, PTH substantially restores
the density of the lost bone.
Decision Resource Inc., an international
pharmaceutical consulting agency,
has predicted that the world
present osteoporosis cure market
of USD 3 billion will reach
USD 9 billion by 2007 according
to the aging tendency of the
population. For advantage in
the PTH market, Green Cross
has been executing all procedures
from the development, pre-clinical
phase to clinical phase to meet
the FDA requirements.
Other than PTH, Green Cross
is concentrating its core competence
of R&D to world-class new
medicine projects such as new
concept of immune therapeutics
(CTL)
that selectively destroys the
Hepatitis B virus-infected cells,
the anti-cancer drug (Greenstatin)
that inhibits the angiogenesis
necessary for the proliferation
of the cancer cell, the immunoregulatory
agent (NP005)
that inhibits the autoimmune
disease and the organ transplantation
rejection, and the antihemophilic
factor (r-FVIII)
using the gene recombination
technology.
